Her Story

Dr. Débora Katisa Carvalho was born and raised in Mindelo, Cape Verde, where she developed a passion for education and social justice from an early age. She pursued her higher education at the University of Cape Verde, where she earned a degree in Social Sciences. Furthering her academic journey, she completed a Ph.D. in Public Health from the University of Lisbon.

Professional Career
Before stepping into her role as the First Lady, Dr. Carvalho had a distinguished career in public health, where she made significant contributions to improving healthcare access in rural areas of Cape Verde. Her work has been instrumental in developing community health programs that have reduced infant mortality rates and improved maternal health.
